During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many multi-industry corporations turned to cloud computing as a strategic solution to overcome challenges such as declining sales and profits. However, for some cooperations that had been pioneering digital transformation, the reality exposed new difficulties, with many cloud migration projects in the manufacturing industry failing to meet initial expectations.
While nearly all industrial enterprises have embarked on their digital transformation journey, most have not yet been able to optimize their cloud operations or achieve significant business impacts. To prevent this from becoming a growing problem, it is necessary for the manufacturing industry to rapidly restructure its cloud strategy, focusing on data modernization and analytics while adjusting business processes and enhancing human resource capabilities.
As a multi-industry corporation operating in real estate, energy, manufacturing, and agriculture, Thanh Thanh Cong Group (TTC) has faced challenges due to data silos that disrupted the monitoring process and overall management. This not only hindered data quality, security, and compliance but also hampered the ability to harness the full potential of data for in-depth analytics and drive business metrics.
Building the Data lake solution
To address these challenges, as the Leading Partner of AWS in digital transformation, data analytics and GenAI applications, TechX’s team of experts collaborated with TTC's IT team to conduct surveys, evaluate operational requirements as well as outlined a detailed and optimal implementation plan
In particular, TechX has designed and implemented Amazon S3 service to centralize data from various sources, combined with Amazon EMR to ensure the management and processing of massive data volume. This enables to streamline TTC's operations even in the event of complex data changes and preparing data for analytics or loading into data warehouses. The Data Lake system was tightly integrated with on-premise platforms like Azure and Oracle Cloud, providing TTC to maintain a critical, organized, secure, and easily accessible data repository.
Additionally, the system utilized Amazon Redshift as a data warehouse to ingest, store, and execute complex queries and analyses. Combined with advanced encryption and security policies, the system provided comprehensive layers of data protection, enabling TTC to quickly recover from any incidents, minimizing downtime, ensuring security, strictly adherence to industry standards throughout the transmission and storage process.
Results
The project has yielded outstanding results, creating significant improvements in TTC's business operations. First, data security was significantly enhanced through the application of modern encryption frameworks and strict compliance policies, ensuring that TTC's data was always protected safely, minimizing risks associated with breaches and unauthorized access.
Furthermore, building Data lake has strengthened TTC’s business continuity, enabling rapid recovery and ensuring uninterrupted operations. The system also offered operational flexibility, designed to scale easily with the growth of TTC, ensuring that businesses can scale up to 70% in the future while maintaining high performance and security.
TTC has optimized cost efficiencies by leveraging AWS's scalable infrastructure, significantly reducing the needs for resources and cutting overall operating costs by nearly 40%.
